Smoke at House of Blues creates Friday morning scare
North Myrtle Beach firefighters were called out to the House of Blues Friday after an electrical issue caused lots of smoke in part of the facility, according to Battalion Chief Mike Davis with North Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue.
Firefighters were first called around 8 a.m. about an alarm activation at the Barefoot Landing venue, but the call was elevated once crews saw smoke upon arrival.
An investigation showed that a short in an electrical panel started smoking in the administration building above the restaurant, and when someone opened the door smoke spread throughout the building, creating concern and the illusion of a bigger issue, authorities said.
“It caused a little bit of a scare, but there was no damage to the House of Blues,” Davis said. No one was injured.
