Horry committee to talk transportation

The first Horry County transportation committee meeting will be at 9 a.m. Thursday in the council conference room of the government complex, 1301 Second Ave., Conway.

The committee plans to discuss surplus property owned by the Department of Airports and the Coast RTA budget.

H&M to open first area store

H&M, a clothing retailer, will open its first area store at Coastal Grand mall on Thursday.

The grand opening begins at noon, and the first 200 shoppers in line will receive an H&M T-shirt and Access to Fashion Pass, valued between $10 and $300.

School board considers Bridgewater Academy contract

The Horry County Board of Education will meet Monday to discuss an amendment for the Bridgewater Academy. The board will also discuss local-board approved classes, a proclamation for Constitution Week and any problems during the first two days of school

The board will meet at 6 p.m. at the district office, 335 Four Mile Rd., Conway.

Locals’ day at Apache Pier

The Apache Pier will host the ninth annual Locals’ Appreciation Day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Apache Family Campground.

The event will feature free admission to the pier for fishing, walking and entertainment.

The pier is located at 9700 Kings Road in Myrtle Beach.
