Horry County police officer among 4 taken to hospital after 3-vehicle crash
An Horry County Police officer was one of four people transported to the hospital Thursday afternoon following a three-vehicle crash in the Carolina Forest area.
Horry County Fire Rescue responded to the area of Carolina Forest and Waterbridge boulevards at 3:22 p.m. to reports of a crash with entrapment. Extrication operations were deployed by rescue crews to remove the entrapped.
A little more than an hour after the incident, Horry County Fire Rescue posted on Facebook that one of the involved cars was a Horry County Police Department vehicle.
At the time of the accident, the injured officer had stopped and activated emergency lighting to remove debris from the road, according to a Facebook post from Horry County Police. The officer had serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
