County and state rescue crews searched for missing boater along river in Conway
Rescue crews searched for about four hours early Friday morning after a boater went missing along the river in Conway.
Horry County Fire Rescue was dispatched at 2:48 a.m. to a watercraft in distress in the area of the Little Pee Dee River at Pitts Landing, according to a Facebook post.
County rescue crews and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources worked to locate the reported distressed boater. At 6:30 a.m., the boater was located, the post said. There were no injuries.
Because of the location of the boater and the low river levels due to the severe drought, crews had to push response boats through low spots to get to the watercraft, the post said.
