ATV rider rescued from 10-foot ditch after crash in Horry County

An ATV rider was airlifted Wednesday to a hospital after being rescued from a 10-foot ditch.

Horry County Fire Rescue crews had to cut through trees and brush to gain access to the person, who had crashed into the ditch and was ejected from the vehicle, according to a Facebook post from the agency.

The crash occurred at 8:11 p.m. in a field on Hughes Gasque Road in Aynor, the post said.

The person involved was stabilized and treated on scene before they were transported to the landing zone, and ultimately brought to the hospital by a medical helicopter, the post said.

Additional details of the crash were not provided. It is also not clear how severe the rider’s injuries are.
