Police find person dead inside Myrtle Beach hotel room. What we know
A person was found dead Monday inside a Myrtle Beach hotel.
Myrtle Beach Police officers responded about 2:53 p.m. to a room at the Twilight Surf hotel, 701 S. Ocean Blvd., in reference to a deceased person, according to a police Facebook post.
It is unclear how the person died. Other details were not released.
Police received a request to do a check on a person inside the room, according to Myrtle Beach Police spokesperson Randolph Angotti.
Residents will see an increased law enforcement presence in the area as officers investigate, the post said.
Residents took to social media to provide information about the death. Police are asking the public to be “mindful of unverified information circulating on social media,” the post said.
“Out of respect for privacy and in accordance with standard investigative practice, further details may not be released,” the post said.
Hotel has history of issues
The hotel has been the target of police, who have responded to several incidents of drug activity and disturbances over the years.
In October 2025, Horry County Solicitor Jimmy Richardson filed a petition against the hotel, asking for its closure for one year. The petition stated that the hotel was a nuisance and “has the general reputation for repeated acts of unlawful possession or sale of controlled substances and continuous breaches of the peace.”
The hotel was closed for six months and allowed to reopen with the stipulation that the hotel complied with requirements outlined in court documents.
