‘Oh my God. It’s coming to me’: Myrtle Beach chef posts dramatic photo of crash
Hollie Rogers was heading out Sunday to buy groceries for her business, something she does each week. But she never made it to any of her planned stops.
As she was preparing to go to her first grocery store, Rogers was involved in a five-vehicle crash in Surfside Beach that sent one truck flying over the top of her Fiat 500. Rogers posted a dramatic photo taken from her car’s dash cam of the scene.
The owner of Little Bites Kitchen, 5001 N. Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach, was one of six people injured in the crash.
“I was on the (Bluetooth) with my dad in Florida when I said, ‘Oh, my God, Oh, my God, it’s coming to me’,” Rogers said of the truck. “I laid down in the passenger seat.”
That’s when the pickup truck involved in the crash rolled over top of Rogers’ vehicle. She was one of six people injured in the crash, including the driver of the truck.
It wasn’t until she saw the dash cam footage that Rogers realized how close the truck came to crushing her.
The crash happened about 3 p.m. in the area of Highway 17 Bypass and Coventry Road in Surfside Beach, according to a Facebook post from Horry County Fire Rescue. Three people were transported to the hospital, including Rogers.
‘Sore and traumatized’
Rogers said she’s “a little sore and traumatized” but is back in her kitchen Monday cooking. Rogers does catering and prepares meals that are delivered to her customers. Sunday is her shopping day and Monday she generally spends 10 to 14 hours cooking.
And although her schedule is a “little thrown off” because of the crash, she is grateful no one was killed and that her injuries weren’t worse.
Rogers usually drives an Escalade when shopping and doing deliveries. If she had been driving that vehicle, Rogers would have been up about 3 to 4 feet higher. The truck would have crashed into the windshield instead.
“It was terrifying,” Rogers said.
