Smoky odor detected from Conway area home after lightning strike

A house near Conway was reportedly struck by lightening during a severe thunderstorm on Sunday.

Horry County Fire Rescue responded to the house at Maidens Choice Drive just after 5:30 p.m. for a residential structure fire , the department said in a post on Facebook. An odor of smoke had been reported after an apparent lightning strike.

No active fire was found, and there were no reported injuries, according to the post.

Horry County Fire Rescue could not provide any more details about where the lightening struck and how much of the house was damaged.
