Who is Randy and why did he become a Carolina Country Music Festival sensation?
It was the chugging of Luke Bryan’s almost-full bottle of tequila that turned a Carolina Country Music Festival attendee into a viral sensation.
As a result, people took to social media Saturday morning with one question: Has anyone checked on Randy?
It all started Friday evening during the country music star’s performance in Myrtle Beach. Bryan took a swig from a bottle of tequila and then handed it to someone in the crowd to pass around. But Randy Lookabill instead chugged the entire bottle, drawing Bryan’s attention and gaining cheers from the crowd.
“Who the hell are you? Do you typically drink a whole bottle of tequila?” Bryan asked Lookabill. “Are you gonna be OK?”
Bryan then took the bottle back, signed it and gave it back to Randy.
“I just met my hero,” Bryan said, adding, “That’s as South Carolina as it gets.”
That’s all it took for Randy to go viral with Facebook memes, fans taking photos with him and even a local T-shirt company creating CCMF merchandise with Randy’s face on it.
And although Lookabill had to be placed in a wheelchair and rolled out of the festival Friday night, his wife, Ashley, posted on Facebook that he was a little tired, but doing fine.
Lookabill was back at CCMF on Saturday evening, when Blake Shelton was scheduled to perform.
