Myrtle Beach area golf course closes for remodel. When will it reopen?
A popular Myrtle Beach area golf course is closing its greens all summer.
Wild Wing Golf Course in Conway is fixing up its pro shop, redesigning its restaurant, renovating its course and bringing back some old favorites.
After all the work planned, the course is set to reopen on Sept. 18, according to Wild Wing general manager and head golf professional Mark Andrew.
What’s new?
Wild Wing Golf Course is getting new greens, restored to their original size with Bermuda grass. The course is also reshaping and renovating the bunkers, removing trees, expanding low-maintenance areas and adding new forward tees to 16 of the 18 holes.
“It’s nothing drastically different,” Andrews said. “The golf course routing and everything is staying the same. It’s more of, I like to call it a restoration project.”
The popular course is bringing back some original features eliminated in the ‘90s, including a memorable ninth hole.
“On the ninth hole, there was something called the Valley of Sins. It’s semi driving a little far forward depending on what tees play it from, and there’s going to be a collection area in the front of the left side of nine green, so that’s going to be a cool feature,” said Andrews. “That’s what we’re focusing most of our attention on, is that coming back.”
The pro shop is also getting a “facelift,” but the real indoor changes will be at the Wild Wing Golf Course’s grill. In the renovations, the restaurant will get two new golf simulators, an updated bar and an all-new menu.
