Police respond to Myrtle Beach High School after threat. Here’s what we know
Myrtle Beach High School was temporarily placed in a “hold” status after receiving a threatening phone call.
Myrtle Beach Police responded to the school at 10:41 a.m. Tuesday in reference to the threat, according to a Facebook post. The post said that residents would see an increase law enforcement presence in the area during the investigation.
The front office staff at the high school received the phone call that was from an out-of-state-number, according to an email from Horry County Schools spokesperson Lisa Bourcier. “All students and staff are safe,” Bourcier said.
It is not clear what was said in the phone call or what threat was made.
The “hold” status has been lifted under the advisement of the Myrtle Beach Police Department, Bourcier said.
Also, as a precautionary measure, all other Myrtle Beach cluster schools were placed in a “secure” status during this temporary time period.
The incident remains under investigation by the school administration at Myrtle Beach High School and the Myrtle Beach Police Department, Bourcier said.
