Horry County Schools Board of Education appoints new member to vacant seat
The Horry County Schools Board of Education has appointed a new member to fill its District 5 vacancy, the board announced Friday.
Matthew Robinson, a project and purchasing manager in residential construction, will take the oath of office for his position on the board during a work session on June 8. Robinson has two daughters who are enrolled in Horry County Schools, according to the release.
Robinson will serve in the District 5 seat until 2028.
Robinson’s appointment on May 28 comes after former board member Howard Barnard, who passed away in May, stepped away from the board in April due to health concerns, The Sun News Previously reported.
Barnard had served on the board for more than five years and was a retired fighter pilot and colonel in the U.S. Air Force.
