President of Horry County college retiring after a half century with the school
The president of Horry Georgetown Technical College will retire at the end of July after working there for 51 years.
Marilyn “Murph” Fore has served as president of the college since 2017. Fore began her career at the college as a faculty member, and since then, she has “played a significant role in shaping the institution’s mission and impact,” the college said in a news release.
During her tenure, the college grew in enrollment, expanded workforce development initiatives and strengthened transfer partnerships.
“It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve this institution,” Fore said. “I am deeply grateful to the Area Commission, faculty, and staff whose dedication and commitment have made this College such a strong impact on our communities. Together, we have achieved meaningful milestones and made a lasting impact on the lives of thousands of students.”
Fore’s last day as president will be July 31.
The Horry Georgetown Technical College Area Commission has formed a search committee and plans on hiring a search firm to begin looking for the college’s next president. No further information about the timeline of the committee’s search has been released.
