It’s taco time! New restaurant and beer garden opening in North Myrtle Beach

It’s almost taco time in North Myrtle Beach.

A new taco restaurant has emerged at what was once the Fenway Grill on Main Street.

The OD Taco Co. will be more than just a seasonal food stand. The Worley family sees it as a “springboard” into a new era of owner-operated family businesses in the city, according to H.G. Worley.

Harold Worley, a former Horry County councilman, owns several properties in the North Myrtle Beach area. Now his son, H.G. Worley Jr., says the family wants to take a more active role in operating their own businesses on their prime properties.

“Once you live and breathe a community for years, you know what works and what doesn’t,” Worley said.

H.G. Worley Jr. is heading up the redevelopment of the northeast side of Main Street.

Listed in development plans as “Shag City USA,” phase one of the new project will replace the space that was formerly the Duffy Street Seafood Shack with a two-story restaurant, relocation of the Melt ice cream shop and a host of several retail shops.

The second phase will include 40,000 square feet of leasable space that will be a mix of retail businesses and restaurants, Worley previously told The Sun News.

The OD Taco Co. will be operated by the newly formed Worley Hospitality Corp. and will eventually move into that second building - estimated to be complete in 2027.

But the Worleys didn’t want to wait.

With the Fenway Grill closing, Worley said the family wanted to do something with that space on a temporary basis. “I’m not a big fan of buildings sitting empty,” he said.

They wanted a “laid back beach town vibe,” and Worley thinks the OD Taco Co., a restaurant and beer garden, will be “something fun and casual that fits Ocean Drive.”

The restaurant will offer tacos, burritos, quesadillas and other Mexican fare. Everything will be fresh and made to order daily.

A beer garden with specialty cocktails, like Modelo Micheladas, will come as soon as their liquor license is finalized.

The target opening date for the OD Taco Co. is May 15, 2026.

“So, even though it’s going to be temporary in that building, it will be a staple on Main Street,” Worley said of the OD Taco Co.

The Worley family also recently bought and re-opened the historic Ocean Drive Barber Shop and have plans for future revitalization in the Ocean Drive area of North Myrtle Beach.

“We want to maintain the charm but at the same time elevate the experience of Ocean Drive,” Worley said.
