Coastal Carolina University is temporarily closing a main road this summer that runs through its campus.

Part of University Boulevard, between Chanticleer Drive West to Highway 544, closed on Sunday and will be unavailable until Aug. 1. The boulevard will be closed for road transition work, the university’s Department of Public Safety announced in a Facebook post on Monday.

Drivers are encouraged to use Founders Drive, Elvington Loop and Wafford Road as alternative roads during construction.

Work will continue being done along Highway 544 after Aug. 1, but the road transition on University Boulevard will be completed, according to the post.
