Woman dies on Mother’s Day, hours after a crash in the Loris area, police say
A Horry County woman died in a crash on Mother’s Day.
Velma Golbold, 66, of Nichols, died just after 11 a.m. Sunday at a Loris hospital, according to an email from Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard. Golbold was transported to the hospital after a crash that occurred on Spring Branch Road.
The crash happened at 9:37 a.m. in the Loris area, according to an email from Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Golbold was a passenger in a 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck that ran off the side of the road and overturned, Ridgeway said.
It is unclear if the driver was also injured.
