Popular Myrtle Beach breakfast spot damaged after car crashes through window
A popular and longtime Myrtle Beach breakfast restaurant remained open Sunday after a vehicle crashed into the building Saturday.
Mammy’s Kitchen, 1010 N. Kings Highway, was damaged Saturday evening when what appears to be a taxi crashed through its windows. A person answering the phone Sunday morning said that a few windows were shattered and that that section of the restaurant was closed off, and a tarp placed on the outside.
The incident happened after Myrtle Beach Police officers initiated a traffic stop about 4:26 p.m. on a vehicle for reckless driving near the 1100 block of North Ocean Boulevard, a Myrtle Beach Police Facebook post said.
The vehicle fled from officers, and then proceeded to hit multiple vehicles, ultimately crashing in the 900 block of Kings Highway, the post said. One of the impacted vehicles then struck a local business, causing damage. The driver of the vehicle attempted to flee on foot but was quickly taken into custody, the post said. The name of the person arrested was not released.
Three individuals were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries.
