Beach weather hits early in Myrtle Beach area. How long will hot temps last?

Both residents and vacationers have enjoyed the unseasonably warm temperatures so far this week. But how long is it expected to last?

The Myrtle Beach area has seen the thermometer rise into the 80s along the coast, and into the 90s inland. That pattern is expected to continue this week and into the weekend, according to Lauren Warner, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Wilmington, North Carolina.

The highest along the coast will be Saturday, when temperatures are expected to reach 85, Warner said.

Warner said that a Bermuda High pressure system located over the Atlantic Ocean is bringing in warmer moisture air into the area.

Temperatures around this time of year along the Grand Strand average in the 70s. This week’s temperatures are at least 10 to 15 degrees above normal, Warner said.

However, the warming trend won’t last that long. As of Monday, things will begin to cool off and the temps will drop back into the 70s, she said.

But until then, Warner suggested that residents “stay sunscreened up.”
