Horry County Police officer injured in crash in Conway area. What we know
A Horry County Police officer was injured in a crash Sunday night while responding to a call in Conway.
The officer was responding to assist Conway Police Department when the officer was involved in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 701 and Lucas Bay Road, according to a text from Horry County spokesperson Thomas Bell.
The officer was transported to the hospital with injuries, Bell said. Two other people also went to the hospital with injuries, according to Horry County Fire Rescue Facebook post.
Three other people declined medical transport, the post said.
Reports are that the officer was trapped in a vehicle after it overturned. Master Trooper William Bennett with South Carolina Highway Patrol confirmed that the police truck driven by the officer did overturn.
The crash happened about 7 p.m.
South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating. Horry County Police Department is assisting.
