Motorcyclist dies after leading police on high-speed chase in Longs, police say
A motorcyclist has died Thursday after allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase in the Longs area.
The driver of a 2023 Suzuki motorcycle was traveling on Old Highway 31 near Hidden River Road when the person went off the roadway and struck a tree, according to an email from Master Trooper Joseph Rowell with South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Walfre Roblero Prince, 27, of Loris, died in the crash, according to an email from Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard.
The crash occurred about 1:54 p.m. after the motorcyclist attempted to elude law enforcement, Rowell said. The driver was transported to the hospital where they later died, Rowell said.
The roadway was blocked as police investigated.
