Friday 13th lucky day for Grand Strand woman who won quarter of million dollars
Friday the 13th turned out to be lucky for one Grand Strand resident.
A woman was shopping with her husband at the Garden City Kroger store when she bought a $5 lottery ticket, according to an emailed press release from the South Carolina Education Lottery. While her husband was loading the groceries, she sat in the car and scratched the ticket.
“I think we won something big,” she screamed to him.
Her husband’s response, “What? Like $100?”
It turned out it was a little bit more, netting the couple $250,000.
“We couldn’t believe it,” the winner told South Carolina Education Lottery officials. “Friday the 13th might be unlucky, but not for me.”
The odds of winning $250,000 in the Giant Jumbo Bucks game are 1 in 960,000. Two more top prizes remain in the game.
