Driver rescued from quickly sinking vehicle in Horry County. Here’s what we know

A person was rescued Sunday from a sinking vehicle in Loris.

Horry County Fire Rescue responded to the area of East Highway 9 Bypass and Flag Patch Road at 2:42 a.m. for a reported vehicle submerged in water, according to a HCFR Facebook post.

Rescue divers were deployed to remove one person from the vehicle as it was becoming increasingly — and ultimately fully — submerged.

One person was transported to the hospital with injuries, the post said.

South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.

Dive team helped towing crews to remove the submerged vehicle, the post said.
