Myrtle Beach Marathon returns this weekend. Which roads will close for runners?

As runners prepare for big races, drivers in Myrtle Beach should be ready for road closures around the city.

The 2026 Myrtle Beach Marathon and Half Marathon will kick off the morning of Saturday, March 7, closing streets as early as 4 a.m. and as late as 1:30 p.m.

During the race, the best way to travel through and in Myrtle Beach will be the Highway 17 Bypass, according to the city.

This year, for the first time, select athletes were invited to compete in the Myrtle Beach Marathon Elite Invitational. These competitors will start the course at 6:20 a.m., before other runners depart at 6:35 a.m.

After the races, runners and spectators will celebrate at the post-race party in the Pelicans parking lot at 1251 21st Ave. N. until 1:30 p.m.

2026 Myrtle Beach Half Marathon Course

Runners for the 13.1-mile half marathon will depart from the Pelicans parking lot. The course goes south and east on Robert M. Grissom Parkway and Mr. Joe White Avenue to Kings Highway. There, participants will make their way to the Market Common through Farrow Parkway.

The second half of the course goes back out of the Market Common, north up Ocean Boulevard and ends back at the Pelicans parking lot. The half marathon course is set to close at 10 a.m.

2026 Myrtle Beach Marathon Course

The full 26.2-mile marathon will also kick off at the Pelicans parking lot and follow Robert M. Grissom Parkway, Mr. Joe White Avenue, Kings Highway and Farrow Parkway to the Market Common.

Participants will then make their way north on Ocean Boulevard all the way to the Grande Dunes area, before turning back and heading south once again on Kings Highway. The course will divert west onto 65th Avenue North to the Grissom Parkway Trail and return to the Pelicans parking lot. The marathon course is scheduled to close at 1:15 p.m.

2026 Myrtle Beach Marathon and Half Marathon road closures

Myrtle Beach will close roads along the race route in intervals. Local Market Common traffic can access the area from the Highway 17 Bypass side.

Here’s the full list, in chronological order.

Streets that will reopen by 9 a.m.

  • 21st Avenue North, from King Street to Greens Boulevard will close 4 to 7:30 a.m.
  • Grissom Parkway, from 29th Avenue North to 21st Avenue North will close 4 to 7:30 a.m.
  • Mr. Joe White Avenue, from Grissom Parkway to Kings Highway will close 6:20 to 7 a.m.
  • Southbound Kings Highway lanes, from Mr. Joe White Avenue to Farrow Parkway will close 6:30 to 8 a.m.
  • Farrow Parkway, from Kings Highway to Meyers Avenue will close 7 to 9 a.m. – Traffic from Ocean Boulevard and Kings Highway can access Farrow Parkway using one lane diverted to Pampas Drive
  • Eastbound Pampas Drive, from Mallard Lake Drive to Farrow Parkway will close 7 to 9 a.m.Howard Avenue, from Farrow Parkway to Reed Avenue will close 7 to 9 a.m.
  • Emmens Avenue, from Gabreski Lane to Farrow Parkway, will close 7 to 9 a.m.

Streets that will reopen by 11 a.m.

  • Grissom Parkway, from 21st Avenue North to Mr. Joe White Avenue, will close 4 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Mr. Joe White Avenue, from Kings Highway to Ocean Boulevard, will close 6:30 to 10 a.m.
  • Northbound Ocean Boulevard lanes, from South Kings Highway to Eighth Avenue North, will close 7:15 to 10:15 a.m.
  • All Ocean Boulevard lanes, from Eighth Avenue North to 12th Avenue North, will close 7:30 to 10:15 a.m.
  • One westbound lane of Mr. Joe White Avenue, from Grissom Parkway to Kings Highway, will close 7:30 to 10:30 a.m.
  • Northbound Ocean Boulevard lanes, from 12th Avenue North to 31st Avenue North, will close 7:30 to 11 a.m.
  • The northbound Ocean Boulevard curb lane, from 31st Avenue North to 52nd Avenue North, will close 7:30 to 11 a.m.

Streets that will reopen by 1:30 p.m.

  • Northbound Ocean Boulevard lanes, from 52nd Avenue North to 82nd Parkway, will close 7:30 a.m. to noon.
  • 21st Avenue North, from Greens Boulevard to Grissom Parkway, will close 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Northbound Ocean Boulevard lanes, from Porcher Drive to 82nd Parkway, will close 8 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
  • Eastbound Grande Dunes Boulevard lanes, from Ocean Boulevard to Kings Highway, will close 8 a.m. to noon.
  • Eastbound Grande Dunes Boulevard lanes, from Kings Highway to Highway 17 Bypass, will close 8 a.m. to noon.
  • The southbound Kings Highway curb lane, from Grande Dunes Boulevard to 65th Avenue North, will close 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Westbound 65th Avenue North lane will close 8:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
  • Southbound Frontage Road lanes will close 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Northbound Grissom Parkway lane, from Perrins Path exit and Granddaddy Drive to 21st Avenue North, will close 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
