Horry County councilman to resign, accept job as register of deeds
Horry County Councilman Marion Foxworth plans to step down from the seat he’s held for 14 years to accept the position of Register of Deeds.
The Myrtle Beach Democrat will ask the council to appoint him to the post Tuesday night. The register is responsible for overseeing the registration, recording, filing and indexing of county records. The position’s salary ranges from a minimum of $65,957 to $98,936.
“I believe this to be a positive move personally and professionally,” Foxworth wrote in a letter to council members. “I have spoken with the Administrator concerning the process. He will be asking Council to move foward with this appointment.”
The register is one of three positions hired by council. The county administrator and clerk to council are the others.
Council members are scheduled to vote on hiring a register Tuesday night.
