‘Survivor’ immunity idol hiding at popular Grand Strand attraction. Can you find it?
The popular competitive television show “Survivor” is celebrating 50 seasons with a scavenger hunt in all 50 states — and a beloved Grand Strand attraction has been picked to participate.
The Survivor 50 Challenge began on Friday, and will run until the premiere of “Survivor 50” on Feb. 25. In each state, an “immunity idol” will be hidden at a site that participants have to sleuth out from a cryptic riddle. But in the Palmetto state, the secret is out: the idol will be hiding at Brookgreen Gardens.
On the show, contestants comb the Survivor island in search of immunity idols they can use to save them from elimination. In the “Survivor 50 Challenge,” participants are seeking the idols for the thrill of the chase, as well as the chance to win a grand prize — a trip to watch the live season finale in Los Angeles.
Immunity idols vary in appearance, but they are often a handcrafted necklace. Those who succeed in finding the idols have to take a picture of themselves wearing it to qualify for the grand prize.
The hunt isn’t limited to one winner. Everyone participating in the hunt has a chance to enter the grand prize sweepstakes with their idol photo.
The riddle for South Carolina’s idol hunt was released Tuesday morning, and reads:
Where art and nature share the land,
By ocean’s breath and sculptor’s hand.
A garden grand, where live oaks grow,
Step inside and let wonder flow.
The riddle highlights the plants and sculptures that adorn Brookgreen’s expansive property, as well as its famous live oaks.
The idol hunt will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 5. A team will set up the idol that morning, and remain available to help participants in their searching. Participants can register for the hunt and view its rules on the Survivor 50 website.
The Grand Strand has had its own “Survivor” winners in the past, including Surfside Beach native Chris Underwood, who won the $1 million prize in 2019, during the show’s 38th season.
