A lottery player in Aynor had to sit down after discovering she had won a half million dollars.

“My knees went weak,” the woman told South Carolina Education Lottery officials.

The woman paid $10 for the winning scratch-off ticket at the Tiger Mart No. 11 along U.S. 501, according to a press release sent Tuesday.

The woman, who asked not to be identified, scratched just the barcode on the ticket and scanned it in the store. When the message read “claim at lottery,” she was hopeful it was a $1,000 win, the release said.

But after scratching off the rest of the card, the ticket revealed that she had won $500,000 instead.

It’s the second big winner in the small Horry County town. Down the street at the Aynor Food Mart, a player won $500,000 in 2023, the release said.
