Myrtle Beach area golf courses close as winter weather approaches. Here’s where

Several Myrtle Beach area golf courses are planning to close down temporarily as extreme winter weather approaches the Grand Strand.

Extremely cold temperatures and wintry weather is expected to hit the Myrtle Beach area over the weekend and early next week. While recent forecasts suggest that precipitation could be limited to cold rain as opposed to freezing rain, hazards are still possible, and local municipalities and businesses are preparing accordingly.

Golf courses in the area are taking precautions by closing down play for a few days while the storm passes.

Sea Trail Golf Resort, just over the border in Sunset Beach, North Carolina, announced that it will close its Jones, Byrd and Maple courses from Friday evening through the weekend.

Legends Golf Course in Myrtle Beach also announced online that it will be closed Friday through Monday.

Diamondback Golf Club at Woodland Valley in Loris said they are putting covers on their greens Friday afternoon and will remain closed until further notice.

Meadowlands Golf Club in nearby Calabash, North Carolina, said they are planning to close Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

Tidewater Golf Club will put covers on its greens on Friday and close through the weekend and possibly early next week.

Wachesaw East Golf Club in Murrells Inlet announced that it will be closed at least through Sunday and Monday.

The general manager of Barefoot Resort and Golf in North Myrtle Beach did not immediately respond for comment, but the resort is reportedly closing its Norman, Love, Dye and Fazio courses until further notice.

International Club of Myrtle Beach, located in Murrells Inlet, did not immediately respond for comment, but is reportedly closing Saturday and Sunday.

Shafetsbury Glen Golf and Fish Club in Conway said they are going to wait and see how the weather turns out before making a determination on closing.

The Dunes Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach said they are still unsure whether it will close, as it typically calls closures day-of. As of now, it will remain open.

Prestwick Country Club in Myrtle Beach said they are still unsure whether the course will close for the weather.
