Recent development in 2025 into 2026 has brought several big chains with popular national food options to the Myrtle Beach area for the first time.

A long-awaited Trader Joe’s location debuted on Sayebrook Parkway, Wawa announced plans for a new store near Horry County and Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers opened its first restaurants in the Grand Strand.

And development doesn’t appear to be slowing, with popular chicken chain Raising Cane’s eyeing a potential location in Myrtle Beach.

As new projects continue to drop, The Sun News wants to know what chain locals hope to see next. In an open survey, dozens of readers named their favorite establishments they’re desperate to have around the Myrtle Beach area.

Some respondents said they hope no new chains come, others want a local diner to open, but most shared which restaurants and food stores they most want to come to the Grand Strand.

Wegmans received more than a dozen submissions, Sheetz got six votes and The Cheesecake Factory garnered five entries, making them the most popular chains in the open survey. Other chains with several responses include Harris Teeter, In-N-Out Burger and Whole Foods.

Now we want to poll readers to find out which of the chains people crave most. Cast your vote for one restaurant and one store below.
