Is this waterfront Georgetown County restaurant closing for good? What we know
Mournful posts quickly flooded social media after a beloved Georgetown County restaurant announced its closure online, but that closure might be short-lived.
Between the Antlers, a waterfront restaurant that has been serving up hot meals at its 100 Wood St. location in Georgetown for more than three years, announced on Facebook Tuesday that it had officially closed its doors. The post called the closure “the end of a chapter,” thanking the staff, the customers and the restaurant’s supporters for making the vision of its founder, Tom Hall, a reality.
Hall passed away in a 2024 car crash in Richland County.
However, the somber post touting memories made in the restaurant was followed by a much more upbeat one just a few hours later, reading “time to get gangsta all over again!”
While the newer post does not disclose specifics about why the restaurant closed its doors, it does hint that the eatery will only remain closed for a “short period of time,” with more information to come.
“This is our home and it always will be. Never forget it,” the post reads.
Between the Antlers did not immediately respond to requests for more information on Thursday morning.
It remains unclear when the restaurant might reopen, and what might be different when it does, but it appears that the food and atmosphere so many Georgetown residents and visitors love isn’t going anywhere.
