Cows roaming Horry County highway. Drivers to see officers patrolling roadway
Several cows are roaming a highway in Horry County and drivers are being cautioned to be on alert.
The cows got loose Saturday night and several of them were struck and killed, according to a text Sunday morning from Horry County public information officer Thomas Bell.
Officers are along Highway 22, between U.S. 501 and S.C. 319, and signage has been placed along the roadway warning drivers to slow down because of the cows, Bell said.
It is unclear how many cows are still loose. Horry County Police posted on its Facebook page at 10:39 p.m. Saturday that several cows were roaming the area of the highway that runs parallel with Horry Road in the Aynor area. Drivers on Horry Road and other roads in the area should exercise caution as well, the post said.
Bell directed information about the livestock and any crashes to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The Sun News has reached out to South Carolina Highway Patrol for more information.
