A new Calabash-style seafood restaurant appears to be preparing to open in Myrtle Beach.

City business license records show that a restaurant called Captain Nemo’s Calabash Seafood Buffet requested a sign permit at 2900 North Kings Highway. The business also requested food and alcohol licenses in December.

The property listed at the location in online land records is owned by DJ’s of Myrtle Beach, who purchased the deed in 1999 for $1.25 million. The address is currently the site of a Bennett’s Calabash Seafood Buffet.

Bennett’s did not respond to an emailed request for comment, and could not be reached via the restaurant’s phone number.

A visit to the restaurant revealed that it was closed, with everything removed from its interior walls and stacks of signage and boxes on the floor.

A notice of the restaurant’s application for alcohol sales permitting was posted to the door, alongside a notice of construction being stopped due to pending permit requirements, which was dated Jan. 7, 2026.

No further information about the business has been released. The restaurant requested permitting for a freestanding sign with internally-lit letters, in addition to licensing for food and alcohol sales, city records show.
