Drivers going through North Myrtle Beach can expect delays beginning Jan. 5, 2026, as work begins on the Barefoot Bridge.

The City of North Myrtle Beach said that the bridge will be reduced to one lane to prepare for the span’s yearly maintenance. Crews will implement traffic control measures to support upcoming work, according to a press release from the city.

The lane reduction is expected to remain in place throughout January, and delays are anticipated, particularly during peak travel times, the release stated.

City officials are telling drivers and businesses in the Barefoot area to plan ahead, allowing for extra travel time.
