Explosions wake Myrtle Beach residents as fire crews battle blaze. One person died

Residents in a Myrtle Beach neighborhood were awakened early Tuesday morning to the sounds of explosions, according to social media posts.

The Myrtle Beach Fire Department responded at 4:24 a.m. to the 1200 block of Lexi Lane for a house fire, according to a Facebook post. Crews discovered the fire in the area of Lexi Lane and Pridgen Road.

One person located in the home was pronounced dead, while another person was transported to the hospital with injuries, the post said.

The name of the person who died was not released.

Chief Christian Sliker said he didn’t have any information on the possible explosions and was headed to the scene to investigate.

The roadways in the area were temporarily closed as crews battled the fire.
