With Christmas just around the corner, forecasters say the Myrtle Beach area will likely see mostly sunny skies and warmer-than-average temperatures this week.

“It should be pretty, pretty darn nice,” said National Weather Service meteorologist Bob Bright.

On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, folks can expect temperatures between the 40s and 60s. With seasonal averages in the upper 30s to the upper 50s, this year’s holidays will be extra warm.

“It definitely looks several degrees above normal, maybe, five to eight degrees or so for the high temperatures, and even the lows, several degrees above normal,” Bright said.

The Grand Strand will kick off Christmas week with a sunny Sunday. Temperatures in the day will reach highs in the lower 60s before dropping to nighttime highs in the lower 50s and lows in the mid 30s.

Those lower 50s will continue on a mostly sunny Monday until the night, when lows are expected to reach the lower 30s.

On Tuesday, skies will be partly cloudy with highs in the lower 60s and lows in the mid-to-upper 40s at night. Although areas to the north might see some rain on Tuesday, the Grand Strand is expected to avoid precipitation.

Christmas Eve is forecasted to be sunny with highs in the mid 60s. The evening will bring cloudier skies with temperature lows in the mid-to-upper 40s.

Meteorologists predict Christmas morning will see partly sunny weather before skies clear. Christmas Day, Dec. 25, is expected to be seasonably warm with highs in the mid-to-upper 60s.
