Happy birthday! Myrtle Beach man’s $10 gift nets half a million dollar lottery win
A Myrtle Beach man became a half million dollars richer after treating himself to a lottery ticket as a birthday gift.
The man bought the scratch-off ticket the day after his birthday, winning $500,000.
The man said he was out with a friend when he picked out the ticket at the Murphy Express on International Drive in the Carolina Forest area. While driving, he asked his friend to scratch it, according to a press release Thursday from the South Carolina Education Lottery officials.
He says he was more surprised than amused when he looked down at his $10 scratch-off and saw it was worth half a million dollars.
After cashing in the ticket, his feelings shifted to excitement. “I have more opportunities now,” he said.
The store will receive $5,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
