More people moving to this SC city than any other in US. It beat out Florida
More people are moving to Myrtle Beach in 2025 than any other city in the U.S., according to a recent report.
This is the third consecutive year that Myrtle Beach has made Pods’ top 20 list of where people are moving to each year.
Myrtle Beach joined several Carolina cities on the list, including Greenville-Spartanburg area, and Wilmington, Raleigh and Charlotte in North Carolina. The Carolinas have the highest number of ranking cities on the list and the highest number of cities in the top 10, the national moving company reports.
It cited Carolinas’ growing economy and job market, low tax rates, and good quality of life as a draw for new residents.
The city of Myrtle Beach has more than 40,000 residents, but the area around the coastal town, known as the Grand Strand, has nearly 400,000 residents. That doesn’t include the millions of tourists who come to the area each year.
Horry County, where Myrtle Beach is located, saw nearly 16,000 new residents between 2023 and 2024, making it one of the top counties in the United States for its fast growth, according to the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce. The Myrtle Beach-Conway-North Myrtle Beach metro area ranked third in the country with 3.8% growth, the report showed.
Many new residents to the Myrtle Beach area have been from states including Florida, New York and New Jersey.
The Pods report said that Long Island, New York, and Central Jersey, New Jersey, are two cities that have the highest number of people leaving.
