Coastal Carolina University’s head football coach, Tim Beck, has been let go, the school announced Sunday morning.

The Coastal Carolina football team has made a leadership change, as the school removed its head coach Tim Beck on Sunday.

Coastal Carolina Athletic Director Chance Miller announced that Beck was relieved of his duties effective immediately, according to an email from the athletics department. A national search for the coach’s successor is beginning immediately, the email said.

Defensive coordinator Jeremiah Johnson will serve as interim head coach for the upcoming bowl game, according to the email.

“After a comprehensive review of our entire football program and its trajectory, I’ve determined a change is needed moving forward,” Miller said in a statement. “We are grateful to Coach Beck for his efforts the past three seasons. We certainly wish Coach and his family well in their future endeavors. Our expectation for this football program is to win the Sun Belt conference championship and compete for a spot in the College Football Playoff, and that will guide us in our search for our next head coach.”

Beck has been with the team for three years, taking over the Chanticleers ahead of the 2023 season.

This was his first time as a college head coach. His apparent firing comes after CCU ended its 2025 season with back-to-back losses, falling 59-10 to James Madison on Saturday and a 51-7 to South Carolina the week before.

In response to questions about what led to the decision to replace Beck, CCU Athletics spokesperson Michael Uva said the department has no further comment at this time.

The Chanticleers (6-6) will learn their bowl destination by next Sunday, Dec. 7.
