Horry County Schools student killed in crash. It was first day of Thanksgiving break
A Loris High School student was killed after his dirt bike collided with a vehicle in Longs.
Jaiveon Brown, 18, of Longs, died in the crash on Nov. 24 on Pine Needle Drive and Honey Road, according to an email from Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard.
The accident occurred about 4:03 p.m., the first day of Horry County Schools’ Thanksgiving break for students.
Loris High School posted a Facebook message about the young man. “It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of one of our students, Jai’Veon Brown. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who knew him during this difficult time. He will be greatly missed by the LHS community.”
South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the two-vehicle crash that blocked the roadway for an extended amount of time, according to Horry County Fire Rescue.
