Student ran on field at Coastal Carolina football game. He was arrested, banned
As Coastal Carolina fans cheered on the Chanticleers in their win over Georgia State’s football team on Nov. 8, one fan ran shirtless across the field and was tackled. An incident report shared with The Sun News on Monday revealed the long-term consequences that fan will face.
The man was CCU student Ryan Schoen, who was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, according to the newly released incident report. Schoen is also being “trespassed” from all future CCU athletic events, according to the report.
He was discharged from J. Reuben Long Detention Center the day after his arrest on $400 bond, arrest records show.
Video circulated online following the game showing a young man in teal shorts sprinting shirtless across the field, pumping his arms in the air. He was quickly tackled to the turf by two Coastal Carolina staff members in teal shirts, The Sun News previously reported.
After Schoen was tackled to the turf at the game, several Coastal Carolina police officers approached him and escorted him off the field.
CCU athletics staff members were notified of the charges and the trespass notice, according to the incident report.
