A building that once housed a longtime North Myrtle Beach seafood restaurant that closed earlier this year will get a new life.

The owners of two Myrtle Beach restaurants announced they will open a new upscale eatery in the former Sea Merchants Restaurant at 1104 Highway 17 S.

White Heron is expected to open in May 2026, according to the restaurant’s Facebook page.

White Heron is a coastal-inspired seafood restaurant created by the owners of Drift and Imperfecto Cantina. The owners were not available Monday to speak about the new restaurant.

Construction on the new restaurant began in October, tearing down portions of the former two-story building.

A menu for the eatery has not been released.
