Myrtle Beach movie buffs might notice new ownership at one Grand Strand theater.

Georgia Theatre Company, or GTC, has taken over the 14 Grand at the Market Common movie theater at 4002 Deville St. previously owned by Stone Theatres.

Georgia Theatre Company is a fourth-generation, family-owned business, according to its Facebook page. Besides the Market Common location, the GTC website lists 18 Georgia movie theaters and five other locations scattered across Florida, Virginia and the Carolinas.

A GTC manager told The Sun News the theater is open to the public under new leadership. Although the theater had a day of transition, it won’t close to moviegoers.

It’s unclear why the theater changed ownership. The manager referred The Sun News to GTC’s corporate website for company comment, but no response was returned before publication. Messages to Stone Theatres also weren’t returned.
