A cup of coffee and decision to buy a lottery ticket earned a Grand Strand man $1 million.

The man was grabbing a cup of coffee at the 7 Eleven on Sapwood Road in Myrtle Beach when he decided to buy a lottery ticket as well, according to a press release Thursday from the South Carolina Education Lottery. He was surprised when he was rewarded with the million dollar prize.

“I’ve never won more than $100,” he told South Carolina Education Lottery officials. “I’m not sure I believe it yet, because those things happen to somebody else.”

The man said he has been playing the lottery for decades, but this time his purchase made him a millionaire.

“I’m not going to let it change me one bit,” he said.

7 Eleven #42241A in Myrtle Beach received a commission of $10,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
