Crews respond to fire at Huntington Beach State Park. What we know
Crews were at the scene of a fire at Huntington Beach State Park.
Midway Fire Rescue responded about 5:30 a.m. Friday to a report of a camper fire at the park, 16148 Ocean Highway in Murrells Inlet, according to a Facebook post.
The camper was fully engulfed when crews arrived, the post said.
Three people were able to escape the camper and there were no injuries, according to Fire Chief Brent McClellan. Crews were able to prevent the fire from spreading to other campers and vehicles in the north campground, he said.
McClellan said it is unclear what caused the fire and that it is under investigation.
The camper was destroyed.
A message left with Huntington Beach State Park officials was not immediately returned.
