Crash leaves motorcyclist dead in Murrells Inlet. Coroner names victim

A motorcyclist was killed in a collision in Horry County early Monday morning, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Jacob Krusen, 20, of Murrells Inlet, died from injuries after a collision with an SUV, according to an email Tuesday from Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard .

The collision occurred about 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 17 and Inlet Square Drive in Murrells Inlet, according to a release from the SCHP . The motorcyclist was killed in the collision; the driver of the other vehicle was not injured, according to the release.

A 2024 Ford Expedition SUV was travelling north on Highway 17, while a 2023 KTM motorcycle was travelling south on Highway 17, according to SCHP Cpl. David Jones in the release. The SUV attempted to turn left onto Inlet Square Drive, and was then struck in the side by the motorcycle.
