Husband and wife opening new coffee shop in downtown Conway. Here’s when
A popular mobile coffee store is coming off the road and opening its first brick-and-mortar shop in downtown Conway.
A Coffee Movement has spent nearly three years operating a van that travels to different areas of Horry County selling hand roasted coffee. Now, the husband and wife team are expanding by opening a coffee shop that will be called ACM.
The shop’s location will be in a building along Third Avenue, across from The Crafty Rooster, said Abel Wilson, owner, along with his wife, Michelle Burnem. The building is one “we always drove past, (thinking) that it could be a really nice, cute little coffee shop,” Wilson said.
The shop will have seating inside, but because it’s only 375 square feet, it will be limited. However, because the building is set back some distance from the sidewalk, Wilson said it will allow for outside seating as well.
Wilson also plans to partner with a local bakery to offer food items.
The couple plan to continue the coffee van, but it will take a back seat for a time once the new shop opens, Wilson said.
ACM sells roasted coffee from three or four roasters across the country. Wilson is hoping to go back to selling coffee from international roasters; however, with coffee prices at an all-time high, including tariffs on imported coffees, it’s just not financially feasible, Wilson said.
Wilson is hoping the shop will be open by January, but, he said, it all depends on how long it takes to secure permits.
