Election day is just weeks away, and North Myrtle Beach voters are preparing to choose a mayor and council members. This year election day falls on Tuesday, Nov. 4, but early voting started Monday and opens weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday, Oct. 31.

In North Myrtle Beach, mayoral candidates include J. Baldwin, Mike Mahaney and Troy Spencer; at-large council candidates include Trey Skidmore, Tony Warren Jr. and David Weitzman; Windy Hill council candidates include Jeri McCumbee and Jolene Puffer; and Ocean Drive has just one council candidate, Bubba Collins.

Voters who are still unsure whose name to check on the ballot can stop by the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce’s candidate forum Wednesday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the North Myrtle Beach High School Auditorium at 3750 Sea Mountain Highway in Little River.

Those who want to attend in person must register online here. Viewers can also find a livestream of the event on the Destination Myrtle Beach Facebook page.

The event gives interested residents the opportunity to meet candidates in person and see how they’ll approach issues like economic development and infrastructure.

It will kick off with a check-in from 5 to 5:30 p.m., before city council candidates take the focus until 6:30 p.m. The final hour will center on mayoral candidates.

Moderator Makayla Evans with WMBF will ask candidates about economic, business and workforce development, as well as tourism, hospitality, housing, infrastructure and growth. Other topics will include quality of life, community, sustainability and the city’s partnership with Destination North Myrtle Beach.
