SC teen killed in Myrtle Beach crash. Coroner identifies the victim

A 15-year-old South Carolina teen has died from injuries he received in a crash in Myrtle Beach.

Michael Griffin Jr., of Great Falls, died Oct. 8, 2025, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, a day after a crash at the intersection of Robert Grissom Parkway and Burroughs and Chapin Boulevard, according to an email from Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard.

Griffin was a passenger in the vehicle when the crash occurred on Oct. 7, 2025, Willard said.

Myrtle Beach Police are investigating the accident.

The accident happened at 3:20 p.m. when a Ford Taurus was making a left-hand turn and was struck by a GMC pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction, according to police.

Three people in the Ford Taurus were transported to the hospital, where Griffin died from his injuries.

It is unclear if any arrests or charges have been filed in the crash.
