New 86-home development planned for this Myrtle Beach neighborhood. What to know
Plans for a new 86-home gated community by the Intracoastal Waterway are in development for the Grande Dunes area in Myrtle Beach.
The planned neighborhood would be roughly 23 acres adjacent to Marina Parkway by 79th Avenue North in the Grande Dunes Planned Unit Development, according to Development Resource Group, the engineering firm for the project. To accommodate 86 new residential lots ranging from 6,152 to 8,465 square feet, development includes plans for three new private roads.
A representative for Development Resource Group declined to answer The Sun News’s questions about the planned development.
The community is the second phase of what Development Resource Group agent Cameron Parker called the “Marina Village Tract,” in a Myrtle Beach Planning Commission meeting on Sept. 16. The firm also has plans for a neighboring community in the Grande Dunes area.
Along with the new homes, the proposed development would complete a 2-mile trail running along the Intracoastal Waterway from the Grande Dunes Marina to the YMCA of Coastal Carolina.
Planning for the waterfront development, Parker said a large storm water pond would accommodate “treatment and storage” for the neighborhood.
The Myrtle Beach Planning Commission, which still has to approve plans for the gated community. The commission will vote to approve or deny the subdivision request on Oct. 7.
