Fall is here, and as spooky decorations start to appear across the Grand Strand, some residents and visitors may be starting their search for the perfect pumpkins to add to their space.
Pumpkins can often be purchased at a local store, or even a farmers market, by those looking for a quick gourd fix. But for those seeking a broader selection or a fun way to spend a fall day have plenty of options to explore.
Some local pumpkin patches also have food items, animals, artisanal goods and seasonal activities.
This fall, grab a favorite flannel or cardigan and step into the season by exploring one of these local pumpkin patches.
Thompson Farm and Nursery
Thompson Farm and Nursery has pumpkins, animals and more kinds of fall fun.
The farm is open every weekend, offering chances to meet its animal residents, watch fall-themed movies outside and wander through a corn maze.

Freewoods Farm
Freewoods Farm is a historic farm known for sharing its pumpkin harvest with the public and hosting other fall activities each year.
The farm serves as a living museum with hands-on educational activities. Every fall, the farm harvests and sells its crops, according to its website.

Southern Palmetto Farms
Southern Palmetto Farms will kick off its fall festivities on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, according to its website.
Along with a bountiful pumpkin patch, the farm will feature a corn maze, slides, jump pad, wagon rides and chances to meet farm animals. It also often features live entertainment and pig races.

Indigo Farms Market
Just a little way north, straddling the North Carolina border, Indigo Farms Market opens parts of the farm each fall for a pumpkin patch and other activities.
The farm often sells its fresh goods at local farmers markets throughout the area, but in the fall, visitors can stop by to pick up a pumpkin or some fresh, local food. All October, the farm will be hosting a pumpkin patch and hay rides.
