A portion of Highway 905 was shut down for about seven hours Monday as crews battled a fire at the train depot in Conway.
At 11:20 a.m., Highway 905 outbound Conway roadway reopened. However, Highway 905 into Conway remains closed, according to the Conway Fire Department.
At 4:15 a.m., Conway Fire Department responded to a structure fire at the historic train depot on Highway 905.
The road is closed from Kingston Street to Country Club Drive.
No injuries have been reported, according to City of Conway spokesperson June Wood by email. The road closure is still ongoing and the fire will be under investigation by Horry County Fire Rescue, she said.
The building, Carolina Southern’s Depot, is privately owned, Wood said.
It appears the fire started at the historic train depot. The depot was built in 1928.
The line is owned by R.J. Corman Railroad Group and none of the tracks appear to have received damage, according to Benny Gettinger, director of corporate operations.
